 Beans on the Wood Stove

The Secret Recipe... Go to Bill's Grocery in Montevideo and  buy a 1 pound bag of Great Northern beans. Rinse and soak overnight. Put rinsed beans in pot with enough water for soup. Put in one jar of pork hocks. Add some small carrots. Put bean pot on hot wood stove and simmer beans all day until they are done. Relax, read the paper, drink coffeee, tell stories maybe do a little work and smell the pleasant aroma of beans cooking on the wood stove. 

We were burning black walnut and red oak wood.
